  1. by the way did you guys know that the director of Story of the Kunning Palace Chu Yui Bun is the same director for this drama series Blossom and Adversity plus the long Ballad ? i really love his work that i watched so far. i cant wait to see moonlight Mystique (with Bai Lu and Ao Rui Peng…
it was a lovely journey for me waiting for each episode to come out although one episode per day was so agonizing wait for me im glad to take own this journey.. one of the best ending i could ask for..

  2. Did everyone see the new couple who debut at Casa Hua?💞
Their conversation is pretty enlightening. Sharing wealth, what’s mine is yours, spend as you please 🎉💝

This series slipped a few “ify” scenes that gave the viewers a lot of candy to sweeten us with! Girl Power …. and why not? They make each other happy so enjoy life💗

  3. I really like this drama its not your typical costume drama full of intrigued and scheme. its about empowering women. how the women of the family stand on there own not just to survive but to thrive on there own capability… each ladies that married out managed to find there own foothold and thrive.. the empress dowager arrived just in time to save the show another female dynamic who knows how to play the palace power..
to see each character grew and developed was the best part .. and lastly Hua and Yanxi’s sojourn was the best ending I could ask for this drama about family’s love is the best one by far..
And i really knew it 6th will become an emperor and everyone’s life will be better. luckily he was save and nurtured by the Hua family plus his own experience will definitely guides him to be a better emperor..
Shao Yao and Shen Huan love story is the best one for me although they started on an ill start but they managed to blossom from being playmates to someone who’s willing to die and live for each other. one of the best i watched by far..

  4. I feel like an example of an unlikable emperor who was redeemed was in the kdrama The Red Sleeves. This drama– did not pull that off. This emperor SUCKED. Having Yanxi say he would be his dagger and that he didn’t hate him only made me think he was an idiot.

  5. He finally died! Good grief! He just had to cling tenaciously till the very last episode. Thought we’d never get rid of him. Considering the number of lives he ruined and ended I would have preferred a more gruesome death for him. But I’ll take what I can get.

As for the rest of it, it was a joy to watch. My grin was so wide when the Hua family was reunited.
The 6th prince, now emperor, will make a wise and benevolent ruler. It was a fulfilling end to a rollercoaster of a ride.

  6. A story about adversity, family, obligation, independence, love, philosophy & speaking the truth has ended in a lackluster way. Initially I had low expectations, but this drama surprised me by being somehow worse than my low expectations.

    First off the negatives:
    – probably the biggest downfall of the show are it’s conflicts (usually out of nowhere) & it’s resolutions (usually easily resolved). The show isn’t very good at managing them & hurts the story as a whole.
-misuse & underdevelopment of a lot of the characters. Shen Qi gone had the series, almost all of the side characters who were in a romance.
    – I might get hate for this, but Hu Yi Tian is too stiff at times. It really ruins a lot of his scenes w/ his co-stars especially Zhang Jinyi.
    – speaking of, I am so disappointed by Yanxi. In the end he’s still blindly loyal to a man not worthy of it.
    – some logic needs to be left at the door too, as the business parts, the Emperor somehow being smart, but isn’t or Yanxi’s parents having little to no presence in his or Shaoyao’s life are weird & badly done.

    Positives:
    – Zhi, while a bit too perfect, was the star of the show & well played by Xhang Jinyi. But I would say all of the many supporting actors did excellent as well. Each & every one of them, no matter the role, really gave their all.
    – Shen Huan & Zhaoyao were the most believable in terms of relationship & that’s mainly due to the great chemistry & writing of the 2.
    – the family dynamic & growth of most of the ladies of the Hua family was also a good part of the series.
    – technical parts like cinematography are really good. Lighting is okay w/ a few gripes. Sets, costumes & makeup are also good.
    – the fighting scenes really surprised me at how good they are. Thumbs up!

Personal Score: 6/10 In the end I was more disappointed than I anticipated. I thought I’d give this series at least a 7, but so many factors brought it down for me. I still enjoyed most of it so I do believe it’s above a 5.
ObjectiveScore: 7?/10 A lot of the acting & technical factors are actually quite good. Most of the show’s problems objectively come down to stories, characters & a few points of logic.

  7. awww what a wholesome ending :”) what is everyone watching next as replacement? I need recs lol

  8. One of the best c-dramas that I have ever watched. I always looked forward to new episodes. The ending was so satisfying.

  9. So beautiful and satisfying end of the series, it’s 10/10 for me. Story is so straightforward and clear, no dragging and misunderstanding between FL and ML makes it more beautiful. I loved it.

  10. Who’s crying?….not me I was ready to go to the Capital and scream the roof down if I wasn’t invited to their wedding💞👰🏼🤵🏼💐
    Love the Titanic scene….how romantic❣️😍

The Hua Ladies are in charge….take a number and I ‘ll get back to my husband when I have free time 😉😆😅😂🤣
Grandpa came home to be with Grandma😔…not a sad occasion…we all have to go there one day. 🥀

Anyway, this was therapeutic after that “modern romance” that was just a brainwashing propaganda series.

  11. The emperor’s dead, Yanxi and Hua Zhi are married, The 6th prince became the emperor, the Hua men came back home, the Hua ladies all are doing the things they love and are still in control of the family business, Shaoyao is living her best life and the biggest winner in this drama is Hua Zhi’s personal maid LOL Girl been sleeping since Hua Zhi left, she’s living her best life!

  12. The way nobody shed a tear when the emperor died and instantly bowed to the next emperor LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL Serves him right !!! The sixth prince is in good hands, he’ll not only grow up to be a good ruler but a good person too ^^

  13. Absolutely beautiful ending. This was one of the best dramas out recently. Thankful for a good balanced drama. All the actors were great.

  14. Overall, this is a decent drama and it did save me from the current boring ones. The first half of 2024 is saved by this –

  15. they dint let us know what was in that duffer emperors’ brain! why he did all this and got killed by his own son! they gave him a noble death thinking he raised a good son and he died JLT!!! so all this backing was done by his son all along and looks like he killed a good CP! but in the end we got a good boy getting the throne! all suffered and had a good end!

  16. So he just died like that ? No suffering at all ? and how could Yanxi be so dumb till the end? Every single person from Hua Zhi family should come and slap and spit on his face before he could die –

  17. One of the most enjoyable idol cdramas I’ve watched in recent years! I can definitely see myself revisiting this drama! Does it have the most interesting plot, the biggest budget or the best acting? It doesn’t but I enjoy the storyline, the pacing of the drama, and the characters.

I love how satisfying this drama is: the baddies all get their comeuppances (they even killed off the emperor lol NICE), there’s no miscommunication between our leads THEY ACTUALLY TALK TO EACH OTHER PRAISE BE, no unnecessary drawn-out plot points, and a proper wedding not haphazardly inserted in the last five minutes.

OUR BEST GIRL HUA ZHI 👸 Others may think she’s too perfect but I love that she’s intelligent, kind and resilient (and that she doesn’t give us the viewers a headache by making the typical stupid FL mistakes often seen in cdramaland)

“that they want to raise a girl like Zhi” wow if that isn’t the biggest compliment ever 😭❤️ Love nearly every bit of this drama, I could have done without the frankly hilarious cgi dolphins at the end but eh no drama’s perfect 😅

  18. Enjoy this drama a lot. Now, the women rule the roost! They proved themselves that they can do anything with hard work and heart. Both leads were good and the supporting cast also. Beautiful women and handsome men.

  19. I’m so sad, I’ve been waiting for the emperor to die, but it was anticlimactic, cause they protected that bully till the end.
That’s the only drawback for me. That man deserves to die earlier.
But other than that, everything ended sugary sweet. They should have let Rong get her own happy ending too. Especially since she was a sensible girl. But I guess we need to sacrifice some.
A lovely show, the last few episodes are definitely skippable

  20. Nice historical drama (thankfully because it was kinda dried this quarter). Beautiful, different, refreshing, free of the typical clichés as well as full of lessons on multiple aspects of life particularly for women. The villainy/antagonism, I must say, was good too. It wasn’t the annoying and unbearable type. The leads were amazing too, they supported each other but it wasn’t a codependency and the sickening blind love. I hope to see more of their future works. Hu Yi Tian (Gu Yanxi) tends to only star in republican era type of dramas but he should really dive more into other chinese dynasties era too. I hope to see Zhang Jingyi (Zhi) & Lu Yi Xiao (Shaoyao) in more historical dramas too. The actress who played Hua Qin, I hope she grinds to get FL roles, she has a ‘it’ face.

  21. Honestly, this was an amazing journey. The fact I watched it as the episodes were releasing, everyday I looked forward to another adventure. It’s a very simple story than the others out there, but that’s what makes it so special and interesting. Loved the story, loved the romance, loved the morals and everything this drama gave us. Sure the emperor’s ending was a bit… messy, but all that matters is that it ended well. Loved it. 10/10.
