Synopsis: The drama follows Kang In Ha, the illegitimate son of a wealthy Korean conglomerate owner, who is determined to climb the societal ladder. Despite his impoverished upbringing, In Ha discovers his father’s identity and forms a partnership with his childhood friend, Han Tae Oh. Together, they plot to take over the Kang Oh Group and secure their positions at the top of society. As they make their way up, their plans are threatened by a woman with a troubled past who is equally ambitious.

  18. The Korean title for The Impossible Heir is Royal Roader (로얄로더). Due to how romanization works, it could also be translated Loyal Roader, Loyal Loader, and Royal Loader. It was difficult to know which one was intended and what any of them meant.

    After a teeny bit of searching, I have discovered that it’s a term used in video gaming.

    “Royalroader (one who walks the royal road) is a term used in the Korean e-Sports League. It is given to a player who won the final in the individual league in his first appearance after Kim Dong-soo won the championship in his first appearance in the individual league. The name ‘Royal Roader’ came from the name of the road taken by the emperor. ” (Korean Wikipedia)

    This makes sense that our young players want to come in and win the chaebol war in their first attempt to become like an emperor.

  24. they’re both main leads… and even if he is a second lead that’s okay too because 1. it’s not like he’s been forced to be second lead, he famous enough to pick projects and roles

The cast is good I’ve seen the two male leads in dramas before this…..I love the plot….and I can’t wait for it to be well executed…it’s definitely going to be a ride….if love to see a morally grey setting for the characters I think it’s something unavoidable in such dramas but it also acts to the depth and complexity of the characters…..can’t wait!!!!

  31. That is right, I guess the oldest boy is the married one. But both the sons look incompetent, evil schemers and wastrels. In Ha family is full on makjaang not sure they will be entertaining kind, they are more leaning towards yu ra from Marry My Husband annoying kind.

  34. I have a question about Kang Inha’s family background. I’ve basically gathered that he’s Chairman Kang’s illegitimate son that he had with another woman (? Not sure if they showed her), while Jang Geumseuk is his legal wife, and the mother of the three children (Inju, Kangju, Huiju) Someone correct me if I’m wrong, I wasn’t concentrating when watching the first half of episode one.

  35. But I think I kinda understand Na Hye Won. She wants to climb up using Kang In Ha but then the person she actually likes is Han Tae Oh. She just wants both of them at once and toying with their feelings. Like gurl, you are just playing with fire. She is not consciously getting in the way of two friends’ grand plans, but she is too greedy by wanting both of them.

  39. just finished ep1, the rich guy love his poor friend so much, he doesn’t care about his status, he’s just happy to have a friend (aside of their deal), and i already don’t like the fl role, not that she’s coming between them but because it’s not innocent, she’s manipulative, and it’s gonna ruin the guys friendship… they better thicken that plot
